How SWIMR works

SWIMR’s diverse range of programmes are specially designed to improve your technique and power. You can work on both or just focus on one. As part of a group, one-on-one with a personal coach, or a combination of the two. Whatever you choose, you’re sure to become a better swimmer!

Maybe you’ll opt for SWIMR Water Team, where you’ll follow a regularly scheduled 6-week group training programme. Or SWIMR Water Flex, which combines supervised group sessions with practicing lengths on your own, at times to suit you. Perhaps you’ll choose one-on-one personal training via SWIMR Water PT. SWIMR strength programmes will be introduced later this year, where you dive into the specialised weights room for sessions with a SWIMR strength coach.

Coaching

SWIMR is a cooperation between Sportbedrijf Rotterdam and Blue Marlins, a leading swimming association and training centre. SWIMR instruction is provided by Blue Marlin’s experienced, qualified coaches, who have backgrounds in (inter)national competition and use elite athlete training methods to help you become a better swimmer.

Who is SWIMR for?

SWIMR is for every swimmer who wants to get better at it! For anyone who wants a structured way to work on their technique, stamina and strength, either via group lessons or personal sessions. The intensive training focusses on improving front crawl, with different groups for different levels, so there’s something for everyone. As long as you’re able to swim one length of the pool, there’s a group lesson that’s right for you! SWIMR coaches keep a constant eye on every participant’s individual level. SWIMR Water programmes

SWIMR Water is all about improving technique, stamina and speed. Fully supervised by an experienced SWIMR swimming coach, who’s there to help you reach your personal goals. A variety of programmes lets you choose between group and one-on-one training, as well as whether you want to train to a fixed schedule or have the flexibility to progress at your own pace. Whichever you go for, everything is designed to make you a better swimmer.

SWIMR Water Team: 6x group training sessions
These group sessions for 6 to 12 participants are designed to improve front crawl, giving you better technique, speed and strength. The programme is a fixed 6-week schedule of intensive, varied sessions with a SWIMR coach. You’ll get a proper swimming workout every week, following the same methods used to train elite swimmers. The coaches keep an eye on everyone’s personal level, to make sure everyone gets appropriate training.

SWIMR Water Flex: 6x group training sessions + 6x unsupervised lane sessions
This flexible programme includes a total of 12 sessions, of which 6 are supervised group sessions (choose any SWIMR Water Flex sessions from the schedule) and 6 are for you to practice doing lengths on your own. SWIMR coaches keep an eye on everyone’s personal level, to make sure each individual gets appropriate training during the group sessions. This programme lets you choose when you want to train, offering flexibility for both your group sessions and your unsupervised lane-swimming sessions.

You can purchase your SWIMR Water Flex programme in the webshop. For SWIMR Water Flex you have to reserve your spot in the team training. On this page in the webshop you’ll find all the schedule options and be able to reserve your chosen slots. Make sure to log in first! SWIMR Water Flex gives you 12 training credits that you can use over the course of 6 months, so you can decide how fast you want to progress.

 

SWIMR Water PT: 4x personal training sessions
If you’ve got a specific goal and would like one-on-one attention to help you reach it, then the SWIMR Water PT programme is your answer! Working with your SWIMR coach, you’ll make rapid progress through very focused training. These personal sessions take place over 4 consecutive weeks, to a fixed schedule. Suitable for every level.

SWIMR Strength programmes

SWIMR Strength is all about increasing your swimming power. SWIMR's specialised strength coach is ready and waiting to help you achieve your personal goals. You’ll get to use Zwemcentrum Rotterdam’s ultramodern Madelon Baans weights room, where you’ll find all kinds of functional fitness and swimming-specific equipment.
